Finding New Leaves On Your Family Tree

Are you a family history researcher or enthusiast? Have you hit a brick wall while searching for your paternal grandmother’s maternal grandfather?

If so, some tips might be in order — and we just happen to live in the county that is home to the Ohio Genealogical Society, an organization that can point you in the right direction!

This year, the Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS)’s fall workshops will be conducted online in the form of a “virtual retreat.”

Registration for the workshop is $100 for OGS members and $115 for non-members. To register, email [email protected] and you will be sent a seminar booklet and registration details.

Each workshop is 90 minutes in length.

The sessions will be streamed using the “BlueJeans” service, and instructions will be provided on how to use that system.

Saturday 8 AM – War of 1812 Ancestors – Eric Johnson – Using Internet resources for 1812 research.
Saturday 10 AM – Digitized US Newspapers – Sunny Morton – Research online for newspapers.
Saturday 10 AM – Dark as a Dungeon – Peggy Lauritzen – Records on those who worked in the mines.
Saturday 2 PM – Special Censuses – Sunny Morton – Veterans, mortality, slave, agriculture, and more.
Saturday 2 PM – Old Northwest Territory – Eric Johnson – Where are those pre-1803 records for Ohio?
Saturday 4 PM – Human Genome Project – Kelly Bergheimer – Making DNA testing affordable.
