It has been a strong winter in north central Ohio, and if you have been waiting for a final, satisfying day on the slopes, this may be your moment.

As of 5:51 AM on February 27, conditions at Snow Trails are holding steady, with a deep base and nearly every trail open. After 7 inches of natural snowfall this week, combined with sustained snowmaking, the resort is reporting what it calls the best conditions left this season. In practical terms, that means coverage is solid, surfaces are groomed, and the base ranges from 20 to 42 inches.

A Deep Base and Full Terrain

The snow surface is a mix of natural and machine-made snow, freshly groomed and described as holding well. That deep seasonal base is doing its job, preserving skiable conditions even as temperatures moderate.

All 21 trails are open. From Outer Limits and Silver Bullet to Rustler, Timberline, and The Chute, skiers and riders have full run of the mountain. The mogul area is open, along with Mt. Mansfield and its glades. For beginners, Bunny and the First-Timers Ramp are ready, along with the learning areas.

Terrain park riders have options too. Five of five parks are open, including Alpine Terrain Park and Progression Park. The Woods Terrain Park reopens Friday with a fresh setup ahead of Party In The Park on Saturday. The Rustler Jump Line is currently set with rollers only, which may actually make it more approachable for a wider range of riders.

If you are evaluating whether it is worth the drive, the answer depends on your standard. If your standard is Colorado powder, you already know where you live. If your standard is maximizing a Midwest winter while it is still here, these are very good conditions.

Lifts Turning, Tubing Running

Five of eleven lifts are currently operating, including:

  • Mt. Mansfield Triple
  • Beginners Double
  • Beginners Carpet
  • First-Timers Carpet
  • West Woods Triple

Additional rope tows and lifts run on posted schedules or as needed, with tubing operating into the evening. The tubing carpet is listed until 5:00 PM, offering a solid late-winter outing for families who prefer snow without skis.

Plan Ahead. Seriously.

Tickets are available online through early March. There are no walk-up ticket sales. If you show up assuming you can buy at the window, you will be disappointed.

Additional late-season dates may be released depending on weather and snow conditions, but those decisions will be made closer to the time. If you are interested, check back regularly and buy online.

This is the rhythm of late February in Ohio. A few warm days. A forecast that feels like a question mark. Then suddenly a reminder that winter can still deliver. If you have gear sitting in the garage and have been telling yourself you will get one more day in, this is that nudge. The base is there. The trails are open. The parks are set.
