After weeks of strong conditions and steady crowds on the hills, the winter season at Snow Trails has officially come to a close.
Resort officials announced this week that warmer temperatures arriving quickly across north central Ohio brought skiing and snowboarding to an early spring finish. While the season will not include the occasional “bonus days” that sometimes extend operations into late March, staff say the winter delivered exactly what skiers hope for: consistent cold and excellent snow.
Cold Weather Created Ideal Conditions
The 2025–2026 season benefited from long stretches of temperatures that stayed well below freezing. Those conditions allowed the resort’s snowmaking and grooming teams to maintain prime surfaces across the slopes for extended periods. For visitors, that translated into weeks of reliable skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing.
Throughout the winter, families, school groups, and longtime passholders returned to the Mansfield-area destination to enjoy the hills, tubing lanes, and the lively atmosphere that has made the resort a regional winter tradition. According to the resort, the quick arrival of spring temperatures ultimately prevented the extended operating window that sometimes appears at the end of strong seasons. Still, the overall verdict from management was simple: it was another successful winter on the slopes.
A Final Chance at the Ski Shop
While the lifts are now quiet, one part of the resort will still be open briefly this weekend.
The Snow Trails Ski Shop will hold the final hours of its end-of-season sale on:
- Saturday, March 14, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Sunday, March 15, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Shoppers can stop in to browse remaining winter gear, apparel, and accessories while inventory lasts. For many visitors, the sale has become an annual tradition and a chance to prepare early for next winter’s return to the slopes.
Reliving the Season
Snow Trails has also posted new photo galleries capturing some of the season’s late winter events and activity across the resort.
Images from those gatherings, along with other moments from the season, are being added to the resort’s online gallery. The photos provide a look back at the crowds, competitions, and snowy afternoons that defined the winter.
Planning for Next Winter
Although operations have paused for the spring and summer months, preparations for the future season are already underway. Season passes for the 2026–2027 winter will become available beginning in September. Resort officials noted that passes often sell quickly, and returning passholders are encouraged to watch for the announcement later this year.
That upcoming winter will mark a milestone. Snow Trails is preparing to welcome guests back for its 66th season, continuing a tradition that has made the resort one of Ohio’s longest-running ski destinations.
For now, the lifts may be still, but the memories of another snowy winter remain fresh. And if history is any guide, many of the same families and skiers who filled the slopes this year will be back again when the snow returns.
