From our friends at Destination Mansfield – Richland County:
This year has presented a lot of challenges to our local restaurants. Dining rooms were closed for months. Carry-out and/or delivery became necessary for survival. This year, outdoor dining options became more popular than ever. We are proud of how our local restaurants faced these challenges head-on. As some people are still wary of sitting down to an indoor meal at a public place, many diners are still choosing to sit outside rather than inside. As the weather gets colder, restaurants have made efforts to extend the outdoor dining season with patio heaters, fireplaces, and even igloos.
Enjoy the cooler seasons with seasonal and award-winning brews. The Phoenix Brewing Company has been updating the taproom to accommodate for additional seating inside with plexiglass barriers and additional bar seating. Outdoors, they will be adding walls to the tent and additional patio heaters for warmth. More…

There’s something special about outdoor dining; it changes the whole atmosphere of the meal. Al Fresco dining also has the power to change the atmosphere of our public spaces by giving them a feeling of security and inclusion. In fact, it is part of the overall goal of the Mansfield Rising Plan to create an accessible and welcoming environment for current and potential residents and visitors. Eateries that bring the inside out are part of this movement because they create welcoming environments that draw people in.
In 2020, outdoor dining has also become a comfort to people looking to eat out when they still aren’t ready to spend a long period of time indoors at a public place. So, whether that means eating at tables on the sidewalk, a patio, or on a deck with a view, we have a variety of outdoor dining options in Richland County. More…
The hospitality industry has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic like few others. On Friday, the United Nations World Tourism Organization released results of a survey where it was found that a staggering 96% of all tourism destinations worldwide now have travel restrictions in place. In the United States, that number stands at 92%.
Sometimes, even in the midst of anticipated difficulty, creative organizations can turn on a dime and focus on ways to fulfill their mission despite challenges.
Such is the case locally with Destination Mansfield – Richland County, and their efforts in making lemonade out of lemons has caught the attention of the media in another Ohio community. More…
