The Ohio State University at Mansfield will soon have a new person at the helm.

OSU officials in Columbus have announced an interim replacement for former dean and director Norman Jones, who was recently chosen as Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education for the entire Ohio State system.

The new Interim Dean will be Eric Anderman, current professor in the Department of Educational Studies. He begins on July 1. The search for a permanent dean and director of OSUM will now begin.

According to the university, “Eric is an experienced academic leader who will be an advocate for our students, faculty, and staff. He will continue the work of advancing teaching, learning, research, and service on campus and in the community.”

Anderman previously served as the Department of Educational Studies’ first chair, where he joined departments together to produce a program which produced several top=ranked education programs.

“A professor of educational psychology, Eric studies academic motivation and risk-taking, focusing on academic cheating, the effects of school transitions on motivation, and HIV and pregnancy prevention in adolescent populations. He is a fellow of both the American Educational Research Association and the American Psychological Association, in which he has served as former president of Division 15 (the educational psychology division) and as chair of the Coalition for Psychology in the Schools,” the University shared.

Search committee members include the following:

  • David Hord, dean-designate of the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Noelle Arnold, senior associate dean, College of Education and Human Ecology
  • Terri Bucci, associate professor, Department of Teaching and Learning, Ohio State Mansfield
  • Scott Levi, chair and professor, Department of History
  • Patrick Louchouarn, senior vice provost for faculty
  • Tiffany Mitchell, coordinator of diversity and inclusion, Ohio State Mansfield
