Andernan’s Term As Interim Dean And Director At OSUM Extended

In its November meeting, the Board of Trustees for The Ohio State University acted to extend the term of a temporary appointment at the Mansfield campus.

The appointment of Eric Anderman, interim dean and director of The Ohio State University at Mansfield, was changed to run from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2024, or until a new dean is appointed.

In August, Anderman was appointed to replace Norman Jones, who recently became Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education for all of The Ohio State University. His initial appointment lasted until May 2023.

At its recent full Board meeting, The Ohio State University Board of Trustees appointed Eric M. Anderson as Interim Dean and Director of the OSU Mansfield from July 1, 2022 through May 14, 2023, or until another dean is appointed.

Anderman replaces Norman Jones, who recently became Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education for all of The Ohio State University. Our story on that appointment can be read here:

CACY Hires New Executive Director

The Community Action for Capable Youth Inc. Board of Trustees has hired Brandy Marquette as its Executive Director, effective lune 25.

Marquette has been with the CACY organization since 2013 as a Prevention Educator. She maintains an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OCPS) credential through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board and is currently in a fellowship program through the State of Ohio to obtain her Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant (OCPC) certification.

Away from CACY, Marquette is also a coach at her alma mater Ashland University. The CACY Board selected Marquette based on her exceptional prevention work, professionalism, and dedication to the organization.

Interim Dean Announced For Ohio State Mansfield; Search For New Dean Begins

The Ohio State University at Mansfield will soon have a new person at the helm.

OSU officials in Columbus have announced an interim replacement for former dean and director Norman Jones, who was recently chosen as Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education for the entire Ohio State system.

The new Interim Dean will be Eric Anderman, current professor in the Department of Educational Studies. He begins on July 1. The search for a permanent dean and director of OSUM will now begin.

According to the university, “Eric is an experienced academic leader who will be an advocate for our students, faculty, and staff. He will continue the work of advancing teaching, learning, research, and service on campus and in the community.”

OSUM’s Jones Named Vice Provost, Dean Of Undergraduate Education At OSU

Ohio State University Executive Vice President and Provost Melissa L. Gilliam announced today that Norman Jones, dean and director of Ohio State Mansfield, will now serve as vice provost and dean for undergraduate education.

In the new role, Jones will lead the vision for challenging and transformative academic experiences for Ohio State undergraduate students on all Ohio State campuses, and be responsible for guiding the development of undergraduate educational experiences and outcomes.

Jones’ appointment is subject to approval by the Board of Trustees and would begin on July 1.

A professor in the Department of English, Jones has served as dean and director of Ohio State Mansfield since 2017. As dean, he is responsible for leading the promotion, direction and support of teaching, learning and research for the 640-acre campus.

New Chief Clinical Officer At Third Street Family Health Services

Third Street Family Health Services has hired a new Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) who began work on Monday, January 10 at the facility located at 600 West Third Street in Mansfield.

Dr. Sheng Liu completed her family medicine residency at MetroHealth Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University. After graduation, she began her medical career with MetroHealth and practiced full spectrum hospital-based family medicine, including outpatient treatment, inpatient care, obstetrics, and long-term care for 19 years. Dr. Liu has served in many leadership roles and has always been a driving force for comprehensive, high-quality primary care.

In 2014, Dr. Liu became the Chief Medical Officer for an Ohio Federally Qualified Health Center. Her experience in patient management helped build the infrastructures and establish services lines for start-up health center, Her efforts promoted improved access to medically underserved populations and helped fill gaps in care. In 2019, Dr. Liu assumed the VP/Chief Medical Officer role for a Michigan community health center. She enhanced many medical programs throughout her tenure. Dr. Liu came back to Ohio to meet her family’s needs, and Third Street is benefitting greatly from her transition.

Dr. Liu has a servant leadership style. Her passion is to asset patients in achieving their best health outcomes and support the clinical staff to achieve their highest potential. She believes that community health centers are meaningful and vital in serving the healthcare needs of residents. Health centers impact the health of communities positively.

Dr. Liu will provide leadership and oversight of clinical program integration and will provide direct patient care. She is working with the leaders of each clinical department to ensure we decrease barriers to care and offer a cohesive patient-centered approach to our services.

Mansfielder Selected As President/CEO Of Philadelphia’s African American Museum

A Mansfielder has been chosen to head one of the foremost institutions in the country focusing on the story of African Americans, the African American Museum in Philadelphia.

Dr. Ashley Jordan was selected in a process that took almost an entire year, who brings significant experience and expertise in leading cultural institutions in the field. Her most recent position was Senior Director of Development for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.

Jordan has also held a position with the National Afro-American Museum in Wilberforce, and has also taught at North Central State College here in Mansfield.

OSU Names A New Provost

The Ohio State University announced today that accomplished researcher, educator and higher-education leader Melissa L. Gilliam, MD, MPH, will be the land-grant institution’s next executive vice president and provost, effective Aug. 1.

Dr. Gilliam will join Ohio State from the University of Chicago, where she is vice provost, the Ellen H. Block Distinguished Service Professor of Health Justice, and professor of obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics. At Ohio State, she will become the first woman of color to serve as provost, leading the educational mission of one of the largest and most comprehensive universities in the country as its chief academic officer. First Energy Names New External Affairs Manager, Based In Mansfield

FirstEnergy Corp. has named Victor J. Coleman Jr. external affairs manager for Ashland, Crawford, Richland, Marion, Knox, Holmes, Wyandot and Morrow counties in Ohio Edison’s service area.

External affairs managers serve as liaisons between Ohio Edison and elected officials, as well as support community involvement activities. They work from regional offices across Ohio Edison’s service area to provide closer proximity to and understanding of the unique issues that face each community they serve.
