On Saturday, Veterans Day will be celebrated across America – including in downtown Mansfield.

Three separate events will mark the celebration and commemoration.

At the Mansfield/Richland County Library’s Main Library, “With Love, To Our Veterans” will be presented at 1:00 PM.  This is designed as a time to honor veterans, their relatives, and their letters.

2016 Veterans Day Parade

Author Dandi Daley Mackall will give a brief reading from her book, With Love, Wherever You Are, the story of her parents, an Army doctor and nurse in World War II, based on over 600 of their war letters. Veterans are also invited to tell their stories and share their memories, and relatives are invited to share their letters and keepsakes.

Bring your children and grandchildren for a sense of living history and appreciation of those who have gone before us.

This event is offered in partnership with Main Street Books.

Meanwhile, as a way of saying “thank you for your service,” all military and veterans will receive free rides all day Saturday at Richland Carrousel Park.

Last but not least, the annual Veterans Day Parade will take its usual route from the five way intersection at Marion Avenue and Park Avenue West. Stepping off at 10:30 AM, it will travel east down Park Avenue West to Central Park, ending at the gazebo. A ceremony will follow at 10:50 AM featuring gun volleys and speakers.
