Avita Health System has announced its Reduced Cost Blood Screenings available throughout April. This initiative represents a significant step in making health care more affordable and accessible to the residents of north central Ohio.

A Step Towards Health Empowerment

Starting April 1, individuals seeking to take charge of their health can purchase vouchers for a variety of essential blood screenings at a fraction of the usual cost. This program is designed to facilitate early detection and monitoring of various health conditions, underscoring Avita Health System’s commitment to community wellness.

Vouchers are available at the cashier’s offices of any Avita Hospital, as well as the Bellville or Shelby Walk-In Clinics, with the exception of the Ontario South Campus. The range of tests offered includes:

  • HealthLink Lab Profile – $30 (Lipids, Chems, CBC)
  • PSA – $25 (Prostate-Specific Antigen)
  • HgbA1c – $30 (Glycosylated Hemoglobin)
  • TSH – $15 (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)
  • Vitamin D, 25 – $30

Where and When to Access the Screenings

The redemption of vouchers for blood screenings can take place at any Avita Hospital, the Ontario South Campus lab, or the Bellville and Shelby Walk-In Clinics. Notably, vouchers can be both purchased and redeemed on the same day, provided that the testing preparation requirements are met. This flexibility aims to encourage participation by making the process as convenient as possible for individuals.

The operational hours for labs at Bucyrus, Galion, and Ontario, as well as the Walk-In Clinics at Bellville and Shelby, are structured to accommodate both early birds and those with tight schedules, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access these vital services.

Empowering Individuals with Information

In a departure from traditional practices, Avita Health System’s approach places the responsibility for health data management directly in the hands of individuals. Results from the screenings will be mailed directly to participants, who are then encouraged to share these results with their health care providers. This policy aims to foster a more engaged and informed approach to personal health management.

Key Considerations

Participants should note that vouchers cannot be purchased or redeemed at the Ontario Walk-In Clinic. Moreover, the initiative stresses the importance of individuals taking proactive steps to discuss their health screenings with their medical providers, as Avita Health System will not automatically send results to physicians or health care providers.
