“RENT,” a modern musical masterpiece, is a reimagining of Puccini’s La Boheme, set in New York’s Lower East Side, and explores the bohemian romance against the backdrop of the early ’90s AIDS crisis. Premiering in 1996, this groundbreaking production garnered critical acclaim, including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Musical. “RENT” has since become a beloved classic of musical theater that celebrates the resilience of those on the fringes of society.

What sets this production apart is the innovative “Stage-on-Stage” presentation, allowing the audience to experience the show from unique vantage points. Limited floor seating is available to immerse you in the world of the characters, bringing you closer to the emotions and excitement of the story. However, for those who prefer the traditional theater experience, seats in the regular Renaissance house are also available.

In a heartfelt collaboration, the Renaissance has partnered with the National AIDS Memorial to display a portion of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in the theater’s lobby throughout the duration of the show. This powerful addition serves to honor the victims and survivors of the AIDS epidemic, reinforcing the show’s message of remembrance and resilience.

Director Ryan Shealy expressed his excitement for this production, saying, “This show clearly holds a special place for all of us working on it. We received over 500 audition submissions for this production from performers all over the country and are so excited to share this story.”

Jacob Poiner, known for his roles in “Grease,” “title of show,” and “Next to Normal,” leads a cast of incredibly talented individuals, including Noah Casner of “Title of Show” and “Follies” fame, and Sam Woodill, known for his roles in “Grease,” “Something Rotten,” and “Spring Awakening.”

Don’t miss your chance to experience the magic of “RENT” at the Renaissance Theatre. Get your tickets today and be a part of this unforgettable theatrical journey.
