A farewell reception will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 PM in City Council Chambers for retiring Lieutenant Douglas A. Seman.

In a release from the Mansfield Division of Police, Chief Kenneth Coontz had the following to say about the retirement of a valued officer:

“Lieutnant Seman was appointed to the Department on March 15, 1991, promoted to Sergeant on February 14, 2005, and to Lieutenant on June 5, 2014.

As a new patrol officer for the Mansfield Police Department he was assigned to the Community Services Bureau Patrol Section. Upon his promotion to Lieutenant he assumed the responsibilities of the Patrol Section’s Watch Commander. During his career he was a Field Training Officer, Recruitment Officer, Firearms Instructor, Training Sergeant, and at the time of his retirement was the Department’s Lead Armorer.

Lieutenant Seman is known for his hard work, dedication, initiative, and a positive attitude toward his work and co-workers. He consistently demonstrates a high degree of skill, integrity, and perseverance in his job. Throughout his career he received numerous Special Commendation Awards and letters of recognition.

Doug’s retirement represents a loss to the Mansfield Division of Police and culminates a career which has exemplified the best qualities of a law enforcement professional. He has our congratulations on his retirement nad our heartfelt thanks for his many years of loyal service. We wish him the greatest success and happiness in the future.”
