Owning land can lead to profit, but having guidance from those who are in the know can make sure you are on the best path. The Richland County Soil & Water Conservation District (RCSWD) will hold a 3-day how-to workshop for those who would like to turn their pasture land into earnings.

The two evening classes will be held on Wednesday April 1 and Thursday April 2, from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM at the Longview Center (1495 W Longview Avenue, Mansfield). The final class will be on Saturday April 4, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon at a Richland County Beef Cow-Calf and Goat Operation.

The cost of $50 per person includes a Resource Notebook, as well as dinner during the Wednesday and Thursday classes. Without the Resource Notebook, the cost is $20 per person. Those who are interested should register by March 25 at www.RichlandSWCD.net (includes additional fee to process credit card payments) or by calling 419.747.8686. Participants who attend all 3 sessions will receive a grazing stick during a Pasture Walk on the final day of class. The resource notebooks and grazing sticks are provided by the Ohio Forage and Grassland Council.

The classes will teach how to evaluate your current resources, animal nutrition, environmental considerations, fencing, and much more. Full details are online the SWCD website.

.The workshop is sponsored by the Ashland, Crawford, Morrow and Richland Soil and Water Conservation Districts, USDA- Natural Resources Conservation Service, Ohio Department of Agriculture, and Ohio Forage & Grassland Council.
