What can you do with an eCard from the Library? Almost anything!

The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library issues two types of cards — the traditional kind and the new “eCard.”  The latter opens up your computer to basically become an extension of the Library, particularly for all things digital.

Take research databases, for instance. The Library offers access to dozens of resources, from Chilton auto repair manuals to replace the distributor in your ‘66 Mustang to several history and genealogical compendiums to guide you to the parentage of your Great Great Grandfather Frank who emigrated to Richland County in the 1910s.

Movies, music, online classes and more are at your fingertips with an eCard.

Here are the basics for obtaining and using the card:

This eCard will give you access to Digital Downloads and Research Databases, but cannot be used to check out paper books, DVDs, CDs, or any tangible items, and cannot be used to place holds on tangible items in the library.

You can only have one type of card, either a full-service Library card that allows access to everything the Library has, or the eCard that will give you access to all digital resources. If you already have a full-service card, you will not be able to register for an eCard. You can upgrade the eCard to a full-service card at any of our locations.

Your new eCard will be good for 3 years. At that time you may renew it by calling any of our locations (you will need your email address for verification) or you can upgrade to a full-service card. Note that you must live in Ohio to get an MRCPL eCard.
