Scouts and their leaders who are looking for service projects need look no further than at Malabar Farm State Park and other Ohio State Parks within easy driving distance. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has made information available about service opportunities at the parks easy to access through an online interface.

Though a link on the Resources for Scouts page on the ODNR website, details on each opportunity is available as well as sign-up instructions.

At Malabar Farm State Park, those include maintaining trail maintenance, visitor center landscaping,  barn/livestock maintenance, kiosk maintenance, pressure washing and painting, flower bed design and painting, recycling program development, restoring a Bromfield-era chicken coop structure, and designing and constructing an interactive museum display.

Other area Ohio State Parks with projects include Mount Gilead, Delaware, and Alum Creek State Parks. Each project description includes a short description, the anticipated length of time to complete, and whether or not it remains available.

The access page is here; click on “Projects by Region” on the bottom left, and then look under “Projects in Central Ohio” on the bottom right.

Send us your news — of an announcement, event,
