Special to 1812Blockhouse

Next month, the Mansfield/Richland County Library’s Main Library in downtown Mansfield will exhibit Outside/Inside: Immigration, Migration, and Health Care in the United States, a traveling exhibit provided by The National Library of Medicine (NLM).

Astronauts, computer pioneers, and businesswomen join athletes, engineers,
and even teenagers in this remarkable group of inventors. This exhibit will be displayed in the 2nd-floor lobby of Mansfield/Richland County Public Library’s Main Library from May 8 through June 9.

This exhibit was curated by historian and educator Beatrix Hoffman, PhD, Northern Illinois University, Outside/Inside primarily features items from the NLM historical collections and explores the history of ideas about immigrant health and immigrants’ and migrants’ experiences with U.S. health care since the late 1800s. The history portrayed in this exhibition reminds us that we all share a desire to protect our health and well-being.

The Main Library is open Monday through Thursday, 9 AM-8 PM, Friday and Saturday, 9 AM-5 PM, and Sunday, 1-5 PM. Visit mrcpl.org for additional information about Mansfield/Richland County Public Library.
