This weekend, the cast of Mamma Mia! The Musical returns to the Renaissance Theatre for an unforgettable reunion. With most of the original leading cast members from the sold out 2019 production, this outdoor concert is going to be a smash-hit!
The concert will feature original cast members such as former Miss Ohio 2018: Matti-Lynn Chrisman, Kristin Kaufman, Katie Harrigan, Maddie Penwell, Leah Gesouras, Ryan Shreve, George Swarn, Drew Owens, Beau Roberts, and Colton Penwell. Joining the original cast are Mansfield native and educator, Scott Smith, as well as Izzi Robles, a performing artist from Georgia.
Robles joins the cast of Mamma Mia!, and will star as Tracy Turnblad in the Renaissance Theatre’s 2021 Summer musical, Hairspray.
The Mamma Mia! Reunion Concert will be held live in the Renaissance Theatre’s Backlot on June 26 at 8:30 PM. As part of the Techman Sales Backlot Series, this performance will be projected onto the Ren’s outdoor movie screen for patrons to enjoy from their cars or in front of the stage where the live performance will be happening. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfortable seating in the backlot. The Renaissance will move the performance indoors in the event of inclement weather. For those unfamiliar with the musical, Mamma Mia! tells the story of Sophie (played by Matti-Lynn Chrisman) who invites three men that might possibly be her father to her wedding. Taking place on the remote Greek island where she was raised by her independent mom, Donna.
The musical features music from world renowned Swedish pop group, ABBA, with such favorites as “Winner Takes It All,” “Money Money Money,” “Dancing Queen,” “Lay All Your Love On Me,” “Waterloo,” “Take A Chance on Me,” and the title song “Mamma Mia!”
