Young voices will fill the sanctuary of St. Peter’s Church in downtown Mansfield on July 22 when the St. Peter’s Music Series presents a concert by the Maîtrise des Hauts de France (young singers of Lamberart).

The free concert, which will take place from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, will be part of the group’s Great Lakes Tour taking place this month. This is a return performance; the choir was last here in 2015.

The origin of the choir dates back to 1970. Since 2010, the choir has been under the direction of Jérôme Cupelli, the founding director of the Petits Chanteurs de Lambres-lez-Douai.

Boys from the age of 8 have the opportunity to join, allowing them to become familiar with the fundamentals of polyphonic choral singing. Since its establishment, the Maîtrise des Hauts de France has regularly performed in the Lille metropolitan area and organizes various tours in France, Europe, and particularly North America during the summer holidays, according to the school calendar.

The Petits Chanteurs have experienced numerous significant events; they have been received at the White House, participated in the international congresses of “Pueri Cantores” in Washington in 2013, and multiple times in the Basilica of Saint Peter in Rome. They are regularly invited to television shows, congresses, competitions, and festivals around the world.

They have a wide-ranging repertoire primarily focused on sacred music and harmonized popular songs.

The Great Lakes tour from July 10 through 25 includes Akron, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Buffalo, Toronto, and other cities. This December, the choir travels to Rome, Italy.
