Each week through the end of construction season, we share the latest road project update from District Three of the Ohio Department of Transportation for work in Ashland, Crawford, and Richland Counties. While the season is winding to a close, many projects are still underway.

This is the project report for work taking place during the week of September 29. It shows ongoing work as well as updates and new projects.

 

ASHLAND COUNTY

State Route 58
SR 58, from US 250 to the Lorain County line, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing and bridge repair project. Flaggers will be used, allowing one lane of traffic at a time through the work zone. The project is expected to be complete in October.

State Route 60
SR 60, between McKinley Blvd. and Lauretta Ave., will have intermittent single lane closures as needed to complete structure work. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October.

State Route 97
SR 97, between the Richland/Ashland County line and SR 3, is now open to traffic. Crews still need to complete miscellaneous work (intersections, striping, castings, RPMs, etc.). Traffic will be maintained by flaggers for the remaining work in this section of roadway. The entire project is expected to be complete in October.

State Route 179 ***NEW***
SR 179 in Mohicanville, just south of Twp. Rd. 2252, will close Tuesday, October 1 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 179 to SR 95, southwest on SR 95 to SR 60, north on SR 60 to SR 179, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Monday, December 2.

 

CRAWFORD COUNTY

State Route 4: Culvert Replacement
SR 4 in the Village of Chatfield, just north of Frist St., will close Monday, September 23 for railroad crossing repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 4 to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 19, north on SR 19 to US 224, east to US 224 to SR 4, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Sunday, September 29.

State Route 4
SR 4 in the City of Bucyrus, from Perry St. to Quaker Rd., will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Side streets will have one lane closures as needed for intersection realignment and catch basin relocation. There is a “No Parking” restriction on SR 4 from Plymouth St. to Melcher Blvd. throughout the project. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in the four-lane section from Perry St. to US 30. In the two-lane sections, traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in May 2020.

State Route 4
SR 4, from SR 19/100 intersection to the Crawford/Seneca County line, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction with periodic flagging operations as needed. The project is expected to be complete in October.

US Route 30
US 30, between Lower Leesville Rd. and Old Lincoln Hwy., have the right lanes eastbound and westbound closed to traffic for a resurfacing project. Crews will begin paving SR 98 from the SR 98/US 30 interchange to Beechgrove Rd. Traffic on SR 98 will be maintained by flaggers. Work zone speed limits are in effect. The speed limit when workers are present is 55 mph, and 65 mph when workers are not present. The entire project is expected to be complete in October.

 

RICHLAND COUNTY

US Route 30: Resurfacing Project
US 30, from just west of the Lexington/Springmill interchange to the SR 309 interchange, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Daily/nightly lane closures will tentatively begin Monday, August 12 for pavement repairs. Lane widths will be reduced to 11’ in each direction during the duration of the project. The project is expected to be complete by August 2020.

US Route 30: Bridge Repairs
US 30, at the Reed Road overpass bridge, will single lane closures for a bridge repair project. Both the entrance ramp from Reed Rd. to US 30 westbound and the US 30 exit ramp to Reed Rd. will close Monday, September 16 for structure repairs to the Reed Rd. bridge over US 30.  Entrance Ramp Detour: The detour route for motorists traveling from Reed Rd. to US 30 will be to continue north on Reed Rd. to Crider Rd., west on Crider Rd. to Laver Rd., and south on Laver Rd. to US 30 westbound. Exit Ramp Detour: The detour route for motorists traveling from US 30 to Reed Rd. will be to continue westbound on US 30 to the Laver Rd. exit ramp, north on Laver Rd. to Crider Rd., and east on Crider Rd. to US 30.

The ramp is expected to reopen on Tuesday, October 15. The entire project is expected to be complete later that month.

US Route 42
US 42, from Grace St. in the City of Mansfield to Baney Rd. in the City of Ashland, will have intermittent lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews will perform night work as needed from Crider Rd. to Stewart Rd. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October.
