The beautiful, colorful creations of glass which comprise the Trail of Tears exhibit opening next week at the Mansfield Art Center are designed to represent the connection between mankind and nature.
What is clear is that visitors are in for a feast for the eyes.
After a decade of sharing Darren Goodman’s Glass Experience with audiences around the world, the “Trail of Tears” exhibition is composed of exhibitions throughout Paris and from Corning, New York to the Museum of Glass in Washington State. This will be Darren’s largest and most comprehensive exhibition in the United States.”
According to his website, “Darren Goodman is a glass blower and installation artist from Ohio who has exhibited his works and installations at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Toledo Art Museum, and the Carnegie Art Gallery among other galleries and arts facilities worldwide.
Goodman employs a hands-on approach and shares the tenets of the studio glass movement. He is concerned with the distinct properties of the material and embraces both the practice’s tradition and experimentation. Through his work he explores the textures, scale, and the implied functionality of each piece. He also emphasizes the collaborative and performance aspects of glassmaking, which is in keeping with the movement’s emphasis on process.”
The exhibition begins with an opening reception on Sunday, January 16 between 2 and 5 PM, and the exhibition continues through February 27. At 3:30 PM, there will be a demonstration of glass blowing.
