The Madison Lions Club is gearing up for its 17th annual beach party, but don’t get out that bathing suit just yet. The beach party will take place in chilly February, so it might be better to just plan to wear Hawaiian print shirt and shorts over some long-sleeve thermals.

The event will take place on February 1 at Fairhaven Hall at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Mansfield; doors open at 6:30 for early tailgating and the official start is 8:00 PM.

The beach party is a fundraiser for the Madison Lions Club, so they work hard to create a fun gathering that everyone will want to attend. The Lions will have food available for sale, but they also welcome guests to bring their own food. With regard to alcohol and beer, the event is BYOB. As in the past, Phil Dirt and Dozers will provide rock music to entertain the crowd; there will also be prize drawings and 50/50 raffles. Tickets are $25 per person and attendees must be 18 to attend.

Those who bring used eyeglasses for donation can get a free raffle ticket. The Lions Clubs is an international service organization and sight conservation and preservation is one of the primary areas in which the Lions focus their efforts. For more information about the Madison Lions Club and to purchase tickets online, visit madisonlions.org. Tickets can also be purchased in Lexington at Bucks Bar and Grill and Mansfield at Chinatown, Fork & Fingers, Los 3 Mayas, Porky’s Drive Inn, Richland County Fairgrounds and Buckeye Thrift Store. No tickets will be sold at the door; only 900 tickets are available and this event is likely to sell out.
