As spring arrives, RIchland County’s local libraries are hosting a series of exciting events for children and families. Here’s a roundup of upcoming activities that will bring joy and learning to the community this season during the remainder of month.
- Spring Planting (Mar. 20-24, Lucas) Celebrate the arrival of spring with a week of planting activities. Drop in anytime to plant seeds and take them home to nurture and watch them grow.
- Pipe Cleaner Palooza! (Tue. Mar. 21, 6 PM, Lexington) Unleash your creativity with pipe cleaners at this fun event. All ages are welcome to design and create unique sculptures using shiny, skinny, or fluffy pipe cleaners.
- Stuffed Animal Hospital (Tue. Mar. 21, 6 PM, Plymouth; Mon. Mar. 27, 6 PM, Crestview) Bring your favorite stuffed animal to learn about pet care and veterinary services. Craft, play, and read at various stations to discover how pets recover after a trip to the vet.
- Puppy Day (Thu. Mar. 23, All day, Ontario; Thu. Mar. 23, 3-7 PM, Bellville) Celebrate National Puppy Day by stopping in to make an adorable puppy craft to take home.
- Egg Coloring Contest (Mar. 27-Apr. 8, All locations) Pick up an egg coloring page at your local library and decorate it to your heart’s content. Entries will be judged in three age groups: Pre-K, grades K-3, and grades 4-5.
- Bug-O-Rama (Wed. Mar. 29, All day, Main) Explore the fascinating world of bugs at the Children’s Department. Take part in the “Be a Bug” challenge and enjoy other “bug”tastic activities.
- Afternoon Painting for Kids (Thu. Mar. 30, 3:30 PM, Bellville, Grades K-5) Join in on a spring-themed story, followed by a painting session. All materials will be provided to create a beautiful spring flower painting.
- Teddy Bear Picnic (Thu. Mar. 30, 6 PM, Lexington) Bring your teddy bears to a delightful picnic event. Enjoy story time with songs and crafts, and stay for a tasty teddy bear treat.
