The Richland County Engineer’s Office has been a busy place during 2020. That’s what the list of completed projects on the department’s website clearly indicates.

Completed items include bridges on Wells Road, Pittenger Road, Snodgrass Road, andShelby Ganges Road; chip sealing of London East, London West, Goon, Bangorville, Horning, Darlington East, Bellville North, Town Line, and Free Roads; and paving of Millsboro East and Lexington-Ontario Roads.

Projects underway include culvert work on Millsboro Road, and paving on part of Windsor and Possum Run Roads.

Next year promises to be just as full of projects across Richland County, with the following included on the current list:

Bridge work on Mock Road, Plymouth Springmill Road, Snake Road, Fleming Falls Road, Ganges Five Points, and Mill Run Roads

  • Guardrail project on various roads
  • Paving on Bellville Johnsville Road (part), Lexington Ontario Road, Noble Road (part), Free Road (part), and Washington North Road (part)
  • Other maintenance work on Plymouth Springmill Road.

2021 also brings the county closer to the Illinois Avenue/Cook Road and Mansfield Lucas Road intersection Roundabout, scheduled for construction in 2022-2024. More information on that project, as well as a conceptual video, can be accessed here in a previous 1812Blockhouse post.

The Richland County Engineers Office oversees maintenance of 355 miles of roadway and 359 county and township bridges.
