It’s not every day that a new parade hits the streets of downtown Mansfield.
A week from Saturday. that first-ever parade will form a centerpiece for a day-long celebration focused on downtown Mansfield’s Central Park.
The Juneteenth Parade, Festival, and Health Fair will take place on June 18 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. The Parade will lead things off and will proceed down Park Avenue West. Special guest marching bands and drumlines, dance groups, local churches, businesses, organizations, and political candidates will be featured.
Following the parade will be a day of festivities in Central Park. The festival will include live bands and entertainment, health screenings, community choirs, book signing (local & statewide authors), food trucks, kids zone, and a vendor marketplace.
Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It is also a day for observing and celebrating African American culture. The holiday has been called “America’s second Independence Day,”
