There’s a new way to test your computer skills that’s interactive and fun.

The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library is now providing the Northstar Digital Learning Program, an assessment-based too for pinpointing where you can use a few pointers.

Now can identify those gaps in your knowledge and guide your learning. Northstar was developed in response to the needs of job seekers who may lack the digital literacy skills needed to seek, obtain, and retain employment, as well as to perform other tasks in daily life.

Northstar Digital Literacy modules are grouped into three main areas:

  • Essential Computer Skills—Basic Computer Skills, Internet Basics, Using Email, Windows OS, Mac OS
  • Essential Software Skills—Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs
  • Using Technology in Daily Life—Social Media, Information Literacy, Career
Search Skills, Supporting K-12 Distance Learning, your Digital Footprint.

Users of Northstar Digital Learning take interactive digital learning tests which allow a demonstration of basic computer and digital literacy skills, and receive a report of areas mastered and those in need of some improvement. The system is integrated with Northstar Online Learning (NSOL) resources when working with a subscribing Northstar location; learners can access practice resources to build their digital literacy skills

Test takers earn certificates when assessments are passed and proctored through a Northstar subscriber, either virtually or in person at the location, can store their successes in a digital credential via Bacpack.
