As overdose deaths in Ohio rise an estimate of 30% in the first half of 2020, Spero Health has announced the opening of a new addiction treatment clinic in Mansfield to quickly respond to the growing need for outpatient community based services.

CARF-accredited, Spero Health is a national leader in providing care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders and will bring affordable, high quality addiction treatment services through a combination of telehealth and in-person visit options at this new clinic.

Located at 270 Lexington Avenue Suite 108, the clinic opened its doors on Wednesday and joins a network of over 45 Spero Health locations throughout Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Indiana, providing care for more than 8,500 patients. Spero Health accepts Ohio Medicaid and most commercial insurance plans. Individuals who need addiction treatment services are encouraged to walk-in for help or call: 234-204-2558 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

The new Mansfield clinic is one of 17 clinics the organization has opened this year across 5 states to meet the immediate demand for access to addiction treatment services close to home. Speaking about the timing of these openings, Spero Health’s CEO, Steve Priest said, “It’s no secret that 2020 has been a challenging year for so many, but most especially those with substance abuse issues. Alarming rates of overdose deaths have spiked because people are feeling uncertainty and instability. The pandemic has aggravated psychological issues, people have suffered job loss and experienced higher levels of isolation causing many to turn to drugs and alcohol to ease the stress. As we continue to see these devastating spike in numbers of people dying from overdose, we feel a sense of urgency for communities to have access to life-saving addiction treatment options, and we are working very hard to make that happen in as many places as possible.”

According to Harm Reduction of Ohio, 2020 is on track to be one of the deadliest years for drug overdoses which have occurred over a broad section of the state affecting both small and large cities cutting into all demographics. “It’s clear by the numbers we are seeing, there is no time to wait in bringing comprehensive treatment solutions to cities most in need. The pandemic has compounded an already out of control drug epidemic, fueling pandemic related overdose deaths. In Mansfield we want to be a solution to families, friends and neighbors who are struggling with this disease by offering immediate access to high quality care,” said Priest.

Going into more detail about services at Spero Health, Senior VP of Clinical Services for Spero Health, David Hayden said, “As you have seen by the latest numbers, addiction affects people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds. Recovery is possible for everyone. Spero Health’s goal is to engage patients where they are in their journey and personalize the program to meet their specific needs so they can stabilize allowing for interventions to support sustained recovery efforts. Because it can be a matter of life and death, we want to make it as easy as we can for those that need addiction treatment services to have immediate access to a treatment team of doctors, counselors and recovery specialist, close to home.”
