Launched just five months ago, a new week long training program at Mansfield Plumbing for newly-hired people has already made a strong impact on employee retention and satisfaction. The program includes 40 hours of paid classroom and hands-on training in dedicated casting and processing training rooms at the company’s new Training Center.

“Each class is limited to just six participants so the one-on-one concentration on training an individual is very intense,” says Jeff Kline, manufacturing training instructor for Mansfield Plumbing. “Mansfield invested significant funds and time during the first part of 2016 to construct an entirely new Training Center and develop new curriculum for new employee training programs. “Our goal is to provide as much instruction and support as possible to newly-hired employees so they’re fully prepared to step into their jobs on the floor. This dedicated effort makes for a smoother transition by more confident new hires who are joining our existing work force.”

As a result of the training program, the 70+ newly-hired people at Mansfield since June have a better understanding of their job roles and requirements. The dedicated time spent during the course also provides Mansfield management with the opportunity to focus on the specific training needs and capabilities of an individual. The person is then placed in a role where he or she will be positioned for success from their first day on the plant floor. “At Mansfield we are in a prolonged period of solid business growth so we continue to have positions open for additional workers,” says Kline, a five-year Mansfield employee. “These openings can evolve into lasting careers with strong benefits to an individual. Now, with the advanced training program in place, new employees have the education and tools they truly need to start a long-term career here from the first moment they step in our door.”
