The Ohio Bird Sanctuary (OBS), a haven for bird lovers and nature enthusiasts, is embarking on an exciting journey of transformation. Beginning February 5, the OBS Visitor Center will undergo a comprehensive renovation, promising an enhanced experience for all visitors. This article delves into the details of the upcoming changes and how they will impact your visit.

A Temporary Closure for a Long-Term Gain

From January 29 to February 5, 2024, OBS will temporarily close its doors to the public. This brief hiatus is necessary for the staff to prepare for the renovation process, which includes relocating operations to the Education Center. Despite the closure, scheduled programs such as Yoga and Snapshot Sunday will continue as planned, ensuring that regular visitors still have access to some of the Sanctuary’s offerings.

Starting February 6, the Sanctuary will reopen to the public, albeit with a few adjustments. Visitors are advised to take a right at the fork in the entrance drive and park at the Education Center, as the usual parking lot will be reserved for construction vehicles. The Education Center will serve as the temporary nerve center for OBS, housing essential services like the check-in desk, the sale of food for the Songbird Aviary, trail maps for hiking, restroom facilities, the gift shop, and access to Keeper Talks and Educational Programs.

Caring for Our Feathered Friends

For those who find an injured bird, OBS remains committed to providing care. Visitors are instructed to follow signs to the back of the Education Center, where Animal Care staff will be available to assist. Clear signage will direct you to the appropriate door for bird care.

Staying Informed: Updates at Your Fingertips

As the renovation progresses, OBS encourages visitors to check their website and social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) for the latest updates. This will ensure that you have the most current information before planning your visit.
