On Tuesday, Snow Trails provided a status report on the temporary suspension of operations at the popular ski resort.

The suspension started on Wednesday, December 27. This decision came as a consequence of inadequate snowfall and less than ideal conditions for snowmaking, creating a significant impact on winter sports enthusiasts and the local community.

The resort has historically relied on a combination of natural snowfall and artificial snowmaking to maintain its slopes. However, this season has been particularly challenging. Despite efforts to create a substantial snow base, limited snowmaking hours and marginal temperatures have led to an uncharacteristically thin snow layer. This scenario underscores the resort’s struggle against climatic unpredictability, which is becoming increasingly common in the region.

This development is particularly significant for the local economy, which benefits from the influx of visitors and sports enthusiasts during the winter season.

In anticipation of colder temperatures and better snowmaking conditions, the resort is actively planning for a reopening. They have announced that updates regarding the resumption of operations and the availability of lift and tubing tickets will be provided as soon as feasible. The resort is also considering the possibility of opening the Tubing Park concurrently with the ski slopes, subject to suitable conditions.

Recognizing the inconvenience caused to its patrons, the resort is offering adjustments for those who have already booked tickets during the period of suspended operations. Customers are encouraged to contact the resort for rescheduling or other accommodations, demonstrating the resort’s commitment to customer service even during challenging times.

On Tuesday, Snow Trails provided the following update:

“We are currently under Suspend Operations until we can continue snowmaking and building the base of snow back up. Snowmaking has resumed this week and we are taking advantage of every opportunity! We first need a few days of snowmaking to be able to update everyone with an accurate reopening date and time. The wait is incredibly difficult for us all… we want to get back to the fun just as soon as possible! We will look to update you with plans for Reopening and releasing available dates for Booking Lift Tickets and making Reservations for Tubing Tickets (if we are able to get the Tubing Park open at the same time). If you already had a Booking with us for any date during Suspended Operations, please let us know how we can adjust this for you.”
