The Pearl Conard Art Gallery at The Ohio State University at Mansfield, is currently hosting the Experiencing Veterans and Artists Collaboration (EVAC) project. This unique exhibition marks a significant intersection of military life and artistic expression.

Funded in the mid-1980s by the John and Pearl Conard Foundation, the gallery enriches the cultural landscape with its diverse exhibitions. From November 6 to December 6, 2023, it undertakes a profound journey, bridging the civilian-veteran divide.

Veterans’ Narratives Through Art

The EVAC project stands out in its approach to storytelling, intertwining the narratives of veterans from all five branches of the military with the creative talents of artists across the United States. This exhibit offers a deep dive into military experiences spanning eras from World War II to the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each artwork in the exhibition is not just a visual piece but a story, accompanied by excerpts from the original interviews with veterans, offering visitors a unique insight into the realities of military life.
