There’s something in the air — in addition to the cold temperatures, that is — that suggests that the Opening Date for Snow Trail’s magic 60th anniversary season will be here soon.

The ski resort’s Snow Report, issued on Monday evening, describes what goes into the determination of when to open. “Snowmaking resumed today at 1PM and will run through the night! Thankful to see the forecast allow for snowmaking to continue nightly this week! Some temps are forecasted to be marginal with high humidity, so we can’t make a determination on Opening Day just yet. To build the base of snow needed we look for multiple productive nights of snowmaking at or below 29F and 60% Relative Humidity, otherwise production can be limited.”

On Monday evening, a Snow Trails represented indicated on social media that it was still “…too soon to project” an opening for this weekend.

Snowmaking is certainly underway. Take a look at these webcams showing live images from Snow Trails, or the Instagram post from Monday afternoon.

We will be posting information about Opening Day when that decision is made.
