The Food Pantry at Grace Episcopal Church in Mansfield is making Thanksgiving a reality for a large number of Richland County families.

As shared recently on social media, the Thanksgiving Food Distribution resulted in some 643 families receiving food free of charge. Volunteers staffed the effort, and an underlying Richland County Foundation grant provided the financial wherewithal.

Grace Church’s Pantry operation received a COVID-19 Rapid Response Grant from the Foundation earlier this year.

The food pantry operation has overcome challenges throughout 2020, including a dwindling volunteer base as the virus impacted the local congregation and nearby residents. It has also made adjustments in becoming a “drive thru” process for improved recipient and volunteer safety.
