A Mansfield Police Officer and two others were injured on Friday night in an accident which took place on East First Street.

According to information shared by the Mansfield Division of Police, at approximately 8:22 PM Officer Justin Cikity was responding to a “call for assistance” from other offices who had placed a radio call for help at the scene of a fight.

Officer Cikity was eastbound on East First Street in his marked police cruiser #44 with lights and sirens activated when a 2007 KIA entered into his lane of travel. That car was northbound from Bowers Avenue after stopping for a stop sign.

An injury crash ensued.

The KIA’s 22-year-old female drive and her 19-year-old female passenger were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, as was Officer Cikity.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to the scene and is handling the crash investigation.

The Yesterday at approximately 8:22PM, Mansfield Police Officer Justin Cikity was responding to “a call for assistance” from other officers on Emerald Avenue who had called over the radio for help at the scene of a fight. Officer Cikity was eastbound on E. 1st Street in marked police cruiser #44 with lights and sirens activated, when a 2007 Kia entered into his lane of travel, northbound from Bowers Avenue after stopping for a Stop Sign; resulting in an injury crash.

Both the 22 year old female driver and 19 year old female passenger in the Kia were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officer Cikity was, also, transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
