This summer, the fun of drive-in movies will be joined by the excitement of outdoor music as the Renaissance Theatre presents a new series called “The Ren Backlot.”

This series will be presented safely outside in the parking lot of the Renaissance Theatre and will include films and concerts. The screen for the series is generously donated by Lind Media, and the new Panasonic 8000 Lumen 3LCD Digital projector and Short-throw Lens generously donated by Rand and Mary Smith.

Events will begin at 9:00 PM, except for June 12 which begins at 8:00 PM, and held in a Drive-In format to accommodate current guidelines for mass gatherings.

The series begins on Friday, June 12 at 8:00 PM with a concert by the popular local group Just Jazz Live, as part of the Avita Innovation Concert Series. The Avita Innovation Concert Series will continue with Mamma-Mia! Sing-Along on June 19, Grease Sing-Along on July 17, and an original from Renaissance Artistic Director, Michael Thomas, called Hollywood Under the Stars on August 28. The Lind Media Cinema Series will present Airplane! on July 17, Muppet Treasure Island on August 21, and Labyrinth on September 4.

Audio for all Backlot events will be broadcast on an FM radio station. Patrons may use their car radios or alternatively, portable radios. Outside food is allowed; however, Renaissance popcorn, candy and soda will be available for purchase, and depending on availability, food trucks on site. For complete information about the events, refer to www.RenTickets.org.

Admission is $15 per car for advance purchases or $20 at the gate. Tickets for all shows may be purchased on the Renaissance website, www.RenTickets.org. For safety reasons, no cash will be accepted at the gate.
