At its meeting on May 11, the State of Ohio Controlling Board approved a change of intent request from the Ohio Adjutant General’s Department relating to taxiway improvements at Mansfield Lahm Airport.

The overall project at Lahm is designed to improve the facility to enhance its viability for use by the 179th Airlift Wing and to eliminate two of the six permanent airfield waivers required for that use.

After an RFP process, the firm of CHA Consulting of Cleveland was selected to design a relocation of Taxiway Alpha in from the the Aircraft Parking Apron at Lahm. This will require a change for previously released capital appropriations from the State of Ohio.

The changes make available $375,730 for these services; the total price tag to complete the project is $3,750,000. This is consistent with the airport’s Master Airport Improvement Plan.

Mansfield Lahm Airport is configured and equipped to handle large commercial and military aircraft, with a 9,001 x 150 feet primary runway and a crosswind runway which is 6,795 x 150 feet in size.

The 179th Airflit Wing has approximately 1,000 part time and full time personnel, and has been active at Lahm since 1948.
