The law can be confusing for a lot of us – the use of phrases like “herewith” and “be it ordained” seem to exist only to keep everyday people from understanding legal documents and proceedings. Even so, most people need to have some foundational knowledge of legal language to help them at some point in their life.

The North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC) wants to help with this issue. They are holding a series of workshops that will provide people with basic legal information, and give them the opportunity to reach out for assistance later.

The first workshop is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at the NECIC office in downtown Mansfield. The session, which will begin at 9:00 AM and last until 12:00 noon, will focus on areas of Consumer Law that include credit scores among other topics. Those who attend will receive a workbook with information and resources, as well as useful templates for letters and motions. The session will led by Lodema M’Poko, an attorney who has spent several years working in Washington, D.C. before recently returning to Mansfield.

A free waffle bar will be provided, so you have some incentive to get up early on Saturday. Visit NECIC online at https://www.necic-ohio.org.
