A new experience is arriving for children of differing abilities to experience the joy of basketball — the Tiffany Hildebrand Unstoppables Basketball Camp.

Tiffany Hildebrand dedicated herself to serving the disabled as a Program Coordinator for the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Richland Newhope). She passed away unexpectedly in June 2019; she was only 52 years old.

To honor her, a basketball camp has been named for her and the group behind the camp is accepting memorial contributions which will allow children (ages 5-18) with different abilities to learn basketball fundamentals. In addition to teaching passing, dribbling, shooting and the like, the future goal is that these children may be able to compete in the Special Olympics.

The Unstoppables youth league is a division of the Clear Fork Youth League. The Unstoppables league provides children with disabilities the experience of playing baseball, and now also basketball.

The basketball camp will be held at the New Life Church of Christ (195 West Durbin Avenue, Bellville). The camp runs for 8 weeks. Camp days are Sundays at 2:00 PM in January (days: 5, 12, 19, 26) and February (days: 2, 9, 16, 23). Camp days will last 1 hour. There will be an end of camp party on March 1.

Monica Ellis is leading the basketball camp this year. She is an Intervention Specialist with 14 years of experience teaching and 15 years of experience coaching basketball.

Registration is open now through December 31 at www.clearforkyouthleague.com. Requirements: Ages 5 years -18 years, any school district, any ability level or diagnosis that hinders typical basketball play. There is no fee to register or participate in the Unstoppables League. Equipment is provided.

The camp is also on the lookout for volunteers. If interested, you may utilize their Facebook page (link: https://www.facebook.com/TheUnstoppablesleague/) to message them for further details.
