The Knights of Columbus Council 4448, from St. Mary of the Snows in Mansfield, has presented a check totaling $228 to Richland Newhope’s Gift Fund.

Council members collected the money this past spring as part of the Knights of Columbus’ annual “Measure Up” campaign, which involves all K of C Councils in Ohio. The donation has been earmarked for use by Special Olympics. In recent years, the Knights of Columbus have been recognized as a major corporate sponsor to the International Special Olympics with many local councils sponsoring local events.

K of C Council 4448 is one of several local councils that support Richland Newhope and its programs. Over the years, money donated to the gift fund has been used to provide various supports for individuals with developmental disabilities, such as the purchase of wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment.

In 2018, Richland Newhope (Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities) supported more than 1,600 individuals through early intervention, preschool, adult, residential, therapy, transportation, and other family-support programs.
