It took some time for the former Ocean Buffet to meet the wrecking ball, but its replacement is rising quickly in its place at 944 Lexington-Springmill Road.

Work is underway on a strip mall that will house five or six retail outlets. At this time, the only known occupant will be a Panda Express, although Five Guys Burgers and Fries has expressed interest in the center. Other stores expressing interest at one time include Sleep Number and Sport Clips.

There is clearly a desire to move along quickly with the project, as work was underway on Sunday afternoon when the above photo was taken.
