Are you a local outdoors enthusiast and a frequent visitor to area lakes? If so, there is a volunteer opportunity which might be just up your alley.

The Richland Soil & Water Conservation District is holding a Lake Monitor Volunteer Training on Saturday, May 4 at 9:00 AM at Charles Mill Lake.

Lake Monitors record water quality data at Charles Mill Lake, Clearfork Reservoir, and Pleasant Hill Lake. The data collected will be used to document changes in lake conditions and the information will be used to assist with watershed management efforts. All you need is regular access to the internet; the RSWCD will provide both training and equipment.

Collected information is shared with the public via the Water Data Map.

This is a great citizen scientist opportunity that does not require a great dal of time but does provide valuable data.

To register, RSVP by April 26 to Theresa via email or call 419.717.8685.

The training site at Charles Mill Lake is located at 1227A State Route 430 in Mansfield.
