Steve Brown and Friends will present a jazz concert on Friday, March 29 at 7:30 PM in the newly renovated Theatre 166. The theater, which is part of Renaissance Performing Arts Association, is located at 166 Park Avenue West.
This 5-piece ensemble will perform a diverse variety of jazz style including swing, Latin and ballads, chosen primarily from the Great American Songbook. Included will be the works of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Duke Ellington, Billy Joel and many others.
Members of the group include Steve Brown on piano and vocals; Eric Fairhurst on sax and flute; Steve Berry on drums; Damian Boyd on trombone; and Dan Conwell on upright bass.
According to Steve Brown, “I have always had a desire to continue the vision of the late Dr. Tom Croghan, by providing some outstanding live jazz performed by local musicians right here at the Renaissance Theater. We are also looking forward to playing in this new venue, where we hope to create an intimate setting, allowing us to get close and personal with our audience. I’m hoping that if this concert is well received, we can continue to offer similar programs in the Black Box.”
The general admission tickets are $15, and can be purchased online at MansfieldTickets.com, at the door, or at the Renaissance Box Office, 419.522.2726.
