The Mansfield office of Akron Children’s Hospital Rehabilitative Services is moving to 2291 W. 4th St., suite F, in Ontario. The new office will open Tuesday, April 10.

Akron Children’s therapists work with infants, children and teens who require therapy following an illness or injury. Therapists also help patients manage the effects of chronic conditions including cerebral palsy, spina bifida or an autism spectrum disorder.

“Our occupational, physical and speech therapists are specially trained to care for pediatric patients,” said Mary Marino, Akron Children’s Hospital director of rehabilitative services. “We provide the full spectrum of therapy needs, from newborns with feeding disorders to toddlers with developmental delays to children with learning problems.”

The new Ontario location will provide a bigger waiting area for patient families and more space for the therapy environments. “We outgrew our current space a while ago,” Marino shared. “We recently hired additional therapists, so the time is right to relocate to a bigger building.”

However, the rehabilitation team’s Ontario office is a temporary location. Rehab services will move again in 2019, when a new Akron Children’s facility opens on Trimble Road in Mansfield. “When we move into the new location in 2019, we’ll have urgent care, primary care and specialty services in one building,” Marino explained. “It will be so convenient for Richland County families to have multiple Akron Children’s services under one roof.”

Rehabilitative services at the Ontario location will be available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. To make an appointment, call 419-521-2920. A physician’s order for therapy is required.
