As you may know, The Ohio Genealogical Society, together with its Samuel D. Isaly Library, has long made Richland County its home.

The facility near Bellville is on outstanding resource for those seeking family history information with a Buckeye connection. Included are over 60,000 books, 250,000 ancestor cards, 4,000 Bible records, 7,000 family histories, and complete Ohio census records from 1800 to 1940.

Last year, the Society held its Annual Conference at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Sandusky. From April 11-14, this year’s event will take place in the somewhat more staid surroundings of the Hyatt Regency in downtown Columbus’ Arena District, and near the southern end of the Short North Arts District.

With a theme of “Blazing New Trails,” the keynote speakers have a local twist. Area resident Peggy Clemens Lautitzen will be speaking on Thursday evening of the conference; Lauritzen is a frequent presenter and workshop leader in the area of genealogy.

A wide range of educational sessions is on offer, including in the areas of document research, ethnic history, Ohio-based genealogy, and the burgeoning area of technology and family history.

More information, including a full conference registration booklet which shares workshop topics and more, is available at this location online.
