The long-awaited Shelby streetscape project gets underway this coming week along Main Street.
Phase One of the project begins on Monday and the City is getting the word out about the timeline, street closures, parking, and other timely information. A new website has been launched for that purpose.
The work on Main Street will last for 60 days. During this time, northbound and southbound State Route 61 (Gamble St) at State Route 96 (Main Street), and Richland Avenue will be closed.

A similar program using CDBG funding was undertaken successfully in years past. More…

The City of Shelby is proposing to make improvements on Main Street from Mansfield Avenue/Broadway to Gamble Street and is seeking public comments about the project.
Improvements include new curbing, crosswalks, sidewalks, ADA compliant curb ramps, lighting, storm sewer, street trees, and furniture. The construction will be funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
No right of way will be purchased with the project. Pedestrian and vehicular traffic will be maintained with detours at times. The City will work with the contractor and local businesses to ensure closures to entrances for sidewalk pours, etc. are limited to non-business hours. More…

Over the course of the last two years, the apartments at 46 Park Avenue West have been emptied out, renovated, and are now ready for new life as high-end downtown apartments that overlook that street. All of this is thanks to new building owners who had a vision for the apartments, as well as the downstairs retail space. More…

The Ohio Historic Site Preservation Advisory Board met earlier this month at the Ohio History Center at I-71 & 17th Ave. in Columbus.
At the meeting, the board recommended nine proposed Ohio nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, either individually or as part of a National Register Historic District. The latter group included a several-block area of downtown Mansfield, labeled the “Downtown Mansfield Historic District,” roughly bounded by Fifth Street to the north, Diamond Street to the east, Second Street to the south, and Mulberry Street to the west.
