Share Your Vocal Talent During 419 Sings

A virtual talent show will showcase talent of vocalists and bands located in the 419 area code.

It’s called “419 Sings,” and it represents a five week virtual talent show sponsored by the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, United Way of Hancock County, and First National Bank.

Sixteen finalists will be selected to compete against each other through a virtual platform over a five-week period beginning in September for the chance to win: $2,500, a recording studio session with Stone Soup Recording Studio in Maumee and their own live performance at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. The Mid Ohio Youth Jazz Orchestra is seeking new members, and has announced audition dates, times, and locations for the 2018-2019 school year.

With its inaugural concert taking place last fall, the Orchestra seeks to entertain audiences with jazz favorites while educating youth in the performance and enjoyment of jazz music. Rehearsal space this coming year is being provided through a partnership with The Richland School of Academic Arts at 1456 Park Avenue West. More…

The Mansfield Jazz Orchestra presents an evening of classic and contemporary Jazz with a 17 piece Big Band featuring some of Ohio’s hottest jazz instrumentalists and special guest Vaughn Wiester.

Featured soloists have performed with artists including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Woody Herman, Nancy Wilson and the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra. More…

Area Musician Releases Video

Local Guitarist/Vocalist Henry J. Konczak is once again writing, recording and releasing original music, and just finished a video of his new song, “The Best.” “The Best” is a high-energy rock song about a talented musician trying to break through in the music industry.

Konczak, better known to his audiences as “Henry J,” is joined by his Broken Hearts Band, which includes local musicians Jai Merina, Michael Hall, and David Schmoll for this performance. More…
