This year we’re continuing our weekly look at unique festivals, events, and attractions that are within an easy driving distance. We call these “Summer Road Trips.” Of course, we regularly feature the many extraordinary places to visit right here in Richland County and encourage our readers to get out and experience what is on offer in our own backyard.
Today we’re turning our attention to a historic venue that is turning its attention to all things Buckeye.
The setting is a living history museum surrounding a remarkable surviving residence from the early days of the Western Reserve. The event is a celebration of all things Ohio.
On August 30 and 31, and again on September 1, Hale Farm will host the Made in Ohio Art & Craft Festival. This juried festival features of 160 Ohio artisans, local food, great entertainment, and all that Hale Farm & Village has to offer.
Vendors include jewelry artists, potters, woodworkers, glass artists, soap and lotion makes, quilters, and a variety of other unique artisans. Note that some artists only accept cash, and there is no ATM on the premises.
Ohio wine and beer will also be available, and the Hale Café will be offering a selction of sandiwiches, salads, and sides.
The Ohio Arts & Crafts Festival also offers workshops to add to your festival experience. These are for ages 12 to adult, and each is 60 minutes in length. To attend, register through the links provided. The $30 fee includes admission to the Made in Ohio Festival on the day of the workshop.

The Made in Ohio Arts & Crafts Festival will take place from 12 noon to 5 PM on August 30, and then 10 AM to 5 PM on the other dates.
The $7 admission fee ($5 for children) includes one day admission to the art festival as well as the grounds, buildings and period craft demonstrations at Hale Farm & Village. Online presale tickets are only $5 (available here). A multi-day pass is $10 per person.
Hale Farm and Village is just an hour drive from Richland County, largely on I71.
