The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) has announced that Pleasant Hill Lake Park is now home to a recently completed activity area featuring a wide array of outdoor activities. This includes two pickleball courts, a full basketball court, a playground, two cornhole courts, a community firepit, and swings that provide a picturesque view of the surrounding lake.

These installations are part of the MWCD Master Plan’s investment in revamping six major lakes in the area, with the current amenities at Pleasant Hill costing nearly $1 million.

An Ambitious Plan to Enhance Outdoor Recreation

This upgrade falls under the umbrella of the MWCD Master Plan. This ambitious initiative is dedicated to the development of recreational facilities, with a budget of approximately $195 million earmarked for six major lakes, including Atwood, Charles Mill, Piedmont, Pleasant Hill, Seneca, and Tappan Lakes. The goal is to improve infrastructure and build new campgrounds that would enhance the visitor experience.

“We are excited to see these amenities under construction,” said Ryan McCleaster, MWCD Chief of Recreation. “We recently completed a strategic plan which includes the imperative to Reimagine Recreation. This project is one great example of many amenities that we plan to bring from idea to reality over the next 5 years at MWCD lakes and parks.”

Impressive Past Projects and Forward-looking Plans

The recent renovations are just the latest in a string of improvements made at Pleasant Hill Lake Park. Since 2016, 12 major projects have been completed, ranging from improvements to the activity center and sanitary collection system to the construction of two new campgrounds and the renovation of four others.

Additions also include two new and one renovated restroom/shower building, a boat storage lot, and 10 new deluxe log cabins featuring indoor gas fireplaces and outdoor hot tubs. The total investment in Pleasant Hill alone amounts to an impressive $26.1 million.

Transforming Recreation at MWCD Lakes and Parks

The new facilities at Pleasant Hill are part of a larger vision to transform the area into a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. MWCD is dedicated to taking its recreational offerings from concept to reality, ensuring a blend of traditional outdoor activities with contemporary, family-friendly amenities.

Whether it’s engaging in a friendly game on the pickleball courts, enjoying a serene swing overlooking the lake, or gathering around the community firepit for a warm evening chat, visitors to Pleasant Hill Lake Park can expect a one-of-a-kind recreational experience.
