The Clear Fork Valley Schools Board of Education voted to accept a proposal at its Special Meeting on Thursday evening that will lead toward a major improvement of district sports facilities.

The Clear Fork Athletic Boosters (CFAB), a longtime supporter of Clear Fork Schools’ athletic facilities and programs, is making a significant contribution towards renovating the district’s baseball and softball fields. This comprehensive project, financed entirely by CFAB, has an estimated cost of around $665,000.

The project includes a number of improvements, including the installation of synthetic turf and permanent foul lines at the district’s baseball and softball fields, upgrading the electrical service to the scoreboards, purchasing and installing new scoreboards, and overhauling the batting cages. The latter involves the demolition and reconstruction of the cages, inclusive of a concrete base, new turf, and a pole-style pavilion over both cages, coupled with the installation of electric facilities.

The Board will permit CFAB to temporarily lease the district’s property to complete the project.

The measure mandates certain conditions to safeguard the school district’s interests. The project’s commencement is dependent on CFAB acquiring all necessary funds and/or in-kind donations in advance. Further, CFAB must shoulder any and all additional amounts over the projected cost of the project, assuming complete financial responsibility for any cost overruns.

Assurances will be made by CFAB and any lending institution that the board will not bear any financial responsibility for the project. Collateral for any loan secured by CFAB will not include any assets of the Board of Education, its officers, members, or employees.

Moreover, the Board of Education reserved the right to halt the project until it was satisfied with all aspects, including the project’s scope, budget, vendor contracts, maintenance costs, and any other criteria the board deems necessary for evaluation.

The Board President and Treasurer are now authorized to execute a lease agreement with CFAB.
