The Mansfield Partners in Education Team, comprised of the Renaissance Performing Arts Association, the Mansfield Art Center, and Mansfield City Schools, will host a two-day professional development workshop on arts integration for elementary and intermediate educators, and administrators on August 6-7, 2019 at the Renaissance Theatre.

The registration fee of $125 for the workshop has been covered for all participants through the generous support of the Ohio Arts Council, Charles P. Hahn, CFP and the Key Bank Foundation.

Kennedy Center teaching artist Daniel Barash will lead workshops entitled “Shadow Play: Exploring Shadow Puppetry in the Early Years,” for teachers serving students in grades K-2; and “Shadow Stories: Exploring Story Elements Through Shadow Puppetry,” for teachers serving students in grades 3-6. Additionally, Mr. Barash will lead his “Shadow Puppetry Primer: A Foundations Workshop,” which is a foundational course during which participants learn shadow puppetry performance techniques, make-and-take their own shadow puppets for best-loved scripted stories, create their own shadow puppetry stages, and brainstorm curricular connections.

Primary grade workshops will be presented in the morning for kindergarten through 2nd-grade teachers, with intermediate-grade workshops in the afternoon for 3rd-6th-grade teachers.

Full schedule and registration is available at 2019artsintegrationpd.eventbrite.com.

Contact hour verification for CEUs is available for participants. For more information, call 419-522-2726 ext. 252 or email [email protected].
