Calling all aspiring actors and Shakespeare enthusiasts! The Mansfield Shakespeare Company is thrilled to announce an exclusive acting workshop focusing on Shakespearean acting techniques, led by the esteemed local actor and director, Scott Smith. This immersive workshop will take place on April 6th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, offering participants a unique opportunity to delve into the world of Shakespearean theater.

Location: Ohio State University at Mansfield, Founders Auditorium in Ovalwood 

In this intensive four-hour workshop, participants will explore the importance of Shakespearean works as a touchstone for actors. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students will learn the fundamentals of preparing Shakespearean verse for performance, including scansion, explication, and scoring. These essential techniques will unlock the possibilities of character development, allowing participants to breathe life into Shakespeare’s timeless words.

Moreover, students will discover how modern acting tactics can be seamlessly applied to Shakespeare’s works, bridging the gap between classical theater and contemporary performance styles.

With only 25 spots available, this workshop promises an intimate and enriching experience for all participants. The registration fee is $25 per person, offering exceptional value for an invaluable learning opportunity.

**About Scott:**

Scott brings nearly 25 years of experience as a professional actor and director to this workshop. With a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from West Virginia University and a background in the prestigious American Conservatory in San Francisco, Scott has honed his craft across various genres and platforms. His passion for Shakespearean theater led him to perform with A Crew of Patches, a traveling theater company dedicated to bringing Shakespeare to students.

Currently serving as CEO of MonsterVox Productions and the Board President of the Mansfield Shakespeare Company, Scott is renowned for his expertise in the performing arts community.
