Each year, it’s a “happy problem” in Richland County as INKcarceration brings throngs of visitors to Mansfield.

To that end, the Mansfield Division of Police has issued an advisory regarding upcoming road closures and traffic delays during the INKcarceration Music and Tattoo Festival. The festival, held at the historic Ohio State Reformatory, is expected to bring significant traffic disruptions to the area.

Major Road Closures

Olivesburg Road/State Route 545

  • Closure Period: 7:00 AM, Friday, July 18 to 4:00 AM, Monday, July 22
  • Impact: Complete closure during the festival

The high volume of attendees and associated vehicle traffic necessitates these closures to ensure safety and efficient traffic flow around the event site.

Temporary Lane Changes and Nightly Closures

Nightly Egress Adjustments

  • Affected Roads: N. Main St/SR 13 and the intersection of 5th Avenue at U.S. 30
  • Reason: Managing vehicle egress from the festival parking lots

Motorists should expect temporary road closures and lane changes each night as vehicles exit the event. These adjustments are critical for handling the increased traffic volumes safely.

Areas Expected to Experience Heavy Traffic

  • State Route 13: From north of Harker Street to Harrington Memorial Road
  • State Route 545: Between Wayne Street and Piper Road
  • E. Longview Avenue: Between N. Main Street and Olivesburg Road
  • U.S. 30: Between U.S. Route 42 and N. Trimble Road

Residents and visitors are strongly advised to avoid these areas if possible and seek alternative routes to minimize delays and congestion.

Recommendations for Local Motorists

To ensure smooth travel and minimize inconvenience, the Mansfield Division of Police recommends the following:

  • Plan Ahead: Identify and use alternate routes.
  • Allow Extra Time: Expect delays and plan your trips accordingly.
  • Follow Instructions: Adhere to detour signs and directions from traffic control personnel.

Stay Updated

For the latest information on road conditions and closures, motorists should check local traffic reports and follow the Mansfield Division of Police on social media platforms. Stay informed to navigate through the festival period with minimal disruption.
