Mansfield will be home to an event this week that offers a unique chance to meet one of the film industry’s storied directors, Sheldon Lettich. The veteran filmmaker will be signing copies of his biography, offering fans an intimate glimpse into his life and career.

Exclusive Book Signing Event

Get ready to line up at City News, located at 100 N. Main, on Wednesday, April 17 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for an exclusive book signing event. This is a rare opportunity to obtain a personally signed copy of Sheldon Lettich’s biography, “Sheldon Lettich: From Vietnam to Van Damme,” authored by Corey Danna. Fans will not only get their books signed but will also have the chance to interact directly with Lettich, a man whose career has spanned several decades and genres.

Journey from Soldier to Screenwriter

Born in New York City and raised in Los Angeles, Sheldon Lettich’s early experiences in the U.S. Marine Corps and his service in Vietnam profoundly influenced his cinematic works. After his military service, Lettich pursued a career in film, transitioning from cinematography to writing and directing, crafting stories that often reflect his own experiences.

The biography delves deep into how Lettich’s service in Vietnam inspired him to co-author the critically acclaimed play “Tracers,” alongside fellow veterans. His transition to film saw him creating some of the most iconic action movies of the 1990s, including several collaborations with Jean-Claude Van Damme like “The Order” and “The Hard Corps.”

A Legacy of Action and Authenticity

Lettich’s work extends beyond action thrillers; he also co-wrote the touching drama “Max” in 2015, about a service dog helping a bereaved family. His diverse portfolio showcases his ability to handle both heart-pounding action and heartfelt storytelling.

Don’t Miss Out

This book signing is a must-attend for fans of cinema and military history, providing a chance to meet and learn from a filmmaker who has turned his real-life experiences into compelling cinematic narratives.
